Didion kept a notebook and wrote about tale that has occurred in her life. When you takes notebook and write about events, it won't be forgotten and that its on the notebook. You might remember the story to it, but might could had forgotten detailed to it. From the notebook stories, you could pass on to your friends or family generation for years. People tend to do that so it won't be long gone. How the story of the past where Achilles takes on Troy and the mighty Roman Empire took on Europe for some point are still remembered? Possible they kept old documents of it and then its transferred into technology things today such as USB memory card or on computer in safe file. Now its two things that would still be there with us today. In case old documents is long dust, it is still saved by today technology. The story had been told, books had been wrote, and the information is still with us. In Didion book, it was more about her life how things had been different that way she can compare to herself and pass it on family how life in the past was hard working than today where you kids got cell phone and television where all of you should be playing outside all the times.
I personally thinks about this sometimes about keeping a notebook. I only think the notebook would be good to remember the events which was forgotten and now appear back in my head at random time. From there it is best to write it down of something that impact in your life or events that you enjoy. It could be anything. My note taker in high school gave me diary. I wasn't expecting it but I promised her to write down my trip to Sweden so she can read what I did up there. Every night I would sit down and write everything what I did during the day with my family. When I read it two or three years later, I read and I couldn't remember exactly what happened but lucky I was able to remember part of it. If I was more specifically detailed enough, I would be able to write a full story on it. But let me tell you, when you go on your trip. It will goes fast and you will be back home soon. So.... "Time fly fast.... Explore fast." That what I always say to myself up there.
